Couple of seconds can save your life

Sometimes a little bit of patience and a few seconds of wait can save your life and of others.  Most of us pay minimum attention to things like following distance, visibility, communication and  of all speed the vehicle is moving in.  It is a common sight to see drivers moving at the posted speed limit when there is a police car driving around them but as soon as the police car vanishes form their sight the obvious happens.  We are very impatient towards drivers who follow speed limits and want them off the streets.  It is true that like a speeding driver a slow driver is an equal hazard.  There are certain rules to driving and must be followed at all times.  Also changing our routine will help save time and life on the road.

1. Karen, in her small hatchback on the left, was in a hurry to get to work. She couldn’t afford to be late again, her boss had warned her quite a few times..

The lights had turned red and a truck had stopped beside her, blocking any view to her right.

When the lights turned green...

2. ...Karen, plunged into the intersection. She could not lose any more time.

The van did not move off so quickly. The driver could see what was approaching from the right.

Karen would also have seen it, two seconds later. Two seconds. Her car was dragged 150 meters along with the truck. She died as her vehicle was crushed under the trucks front end.  Remember, that Trucks take a long distance to stop when fully laden.

When the lights turn green pause for two seconds, just in case
